The Choice of One City

There are so many cities to visit and so many that captivate every Traveler around the world.
It is quite different when one has been raised in a city vs someone that has been raised in the countryside. As a city girl I have to admit that the fast-paced and multiple choices that involve living within one, are some things that always peak my attention when I’m in a new one. As much as I enjoy being someplace new, which might be a tiny town, there is always something that pulls me back to the closest city.
Could I live in a tiny town? Not really, I’ve done it and let me say that as much as I enjoyed the fresh air, the people and the lifestyle, no matter what I would find a way to hop on the train to the city for a day trip or the weekend.
If I could choose which city to live in, I’m afraid that the choice might be trickier than one might expect. I’ve been lucky to visit many, I’ve pictured myself living there but at the end of day, if I could only pick one and hop on a plane with a pair of suitcases, I would have to say… London.

I’ve been twice, with 5 years apart, and both times have had the same thought “I need to live here” maybe not forever but for a while, it’s something that sounds exciting. I know that London is probably one of the most searched and visited cities in the world but for me, there has always been a sense of belonging. Taking into consideration that I’ve been obsessed with Harry Potter since forever, some might say that it is an added bonus. Of course it is more than that, I’ve been in love and have special affinity with cities with rivers whether it’s Paris, Bern, Dublin, Copenhagen, etc.
London’s contrast of history with innovation, architecture, culture and leisure, is the perfect combination where one can never be bored! Is it different to live there and wanting to do so? Definitely! Like everything in life, it might seem to look better from the outside than knowing from the inside but, it’s an adventure, one that I would love to have!
To wrap this up, London is one of my favorite cities, I would love to live there someday. Would it have its challenges? For sure. Would I need to “give up” parts of my life on this side of the Atlantic? Most definitely. Would it be worth it? I’m sure the answer is yes! Living in Europe has been a lifelong dream of mine, it might not be London “as planned” but I can affirm that it would happen sooner or later. Europe is waiting, I’m ready to get there!
